BROKE OR POOR

Broke is the current state of your condition; Poverty is a state of mind.

I recently heard a sermon about this very topic, and it truly made sense to me. As always I will try to give you examples. I know this person who, by sight you would think is really destitute, he always talks and walks as a person in lack..But truth be known, he is one of the wealthiest men in our town, in fact he owns most of the properties around.

Now another example, a woman, who ekes out a living to the best of her ability. She carries herself with such dignity and pride, you would certainly presume she is a woman of means, her clothing although not expensive look as if she purchased them at one of our finest shops, she is always the first one to step forth when requests are made for donations, or assistance for another person in need…You get my drift. What is the difference here ? State of mind!…

A poverty minded person, is a person who is bound by fear of lack. Although he has much, he does not see it as a blessing, he sees it as possessions the more he accumilates the more he needs ,seldom, if ever enjoys life or the fruits of his labor. He will never give of himself, much less bless others.

Now, let’s address the person who is broke, sure it is a hardship, but this person always knows that the situation will change because they is have the will to change it. Their heart is for the down trodden because they understand, they have walked in the same shoes , as it were…In their heart there is always optimism and thankfulness for what they do have.

As always we have a choice…how we think we are , we are! Whether we hold your head up high or look only to the ground at the dirt is up to each individual…but he view is sure different.
