BIRTHDAYS
Tomorrow, I will celebrating the anniversary of my 41st birthday…I have been doing this for 23 years.
Webster’s defines a birthday as “the anniversary of a person’s birth”. This I understand, but why do we make such a big deal out of it, (I told you I have too much time on my hands) . Friends and family call and wish you a happy day, you get cards, flowers, CHOCOLATE. Even strangers, wish you a happy day once they hear that you were born on this day..and they don’t even know you..
I suppose, to me, it means that they are glad of your existence. That in some way you have touched their lives. That your habitation here on earth is worth something to someone. We all touch one another in one manner or another, I suppose that is reason for celebration, I don’t know. Now , I am glad at all the fuss, I love being fawned over, it sure makes me feel special and loved, even perhaps appreciated.
Birthdays have been celebrated since the earth began I suppose, after all , some of us celebrate the birth of Jesus every Christmas with much flare and gifts, and have been doing so for many generations, He has, and continues to touch many lives by His existence here on earth. Heck, I even heard that all of heaven rejoices at our birth… We must be really special !
So to all my SPECIAL friends out there, allow me to wish you a Happy Celebration of the day you were born..
